Winds fuel flames of more than a dozen Detroit fires |
 Wind gusts of up to 35 mph and low humidity are fueling the flames of several fires throughout the city. The arid conditions, combined with high winds, were reportedly responsible for at least 15 reported fires.

Valtteri Filppula, brother could play together for Wings |
 The thought of playing on the same team as his brother excites Valtteri Filppula. His brother Ilari was signed by the Red Wings over the summer as a free agent. If Ilari doesn't make the Wings' roster, he'll play in Grand Rapids.

 Detroit -- Despite transportation trial runs in advance of the first day of school, Emergency Financial Manager Robert Bobb had to wait 35 minutes at a bus stop this morning to get to Spain Elementary School.
